Where did the weekend go?
Let me see - Friday night the hubby was setting up / installing radio stuff in preparation for the Mid-Michigan MS 150 bike ride (that he worked at all weekend), so the girl and I stayed home and didn't do a whole lot. We made french bread pizzas for dinner and caught up on watching RuPaul's Drag U (I love RuPaul's shows!!!) Saturday we did piddly stuff here & there and went to my sister's to get dressed before car-pooling to my cousin's wedding.
Apparently the Lisa's are the bad guys -
that's me in front and my niece Lisa standing, wearing black hats.
Note to anyone planning a wedding....even if you know the guy who DJs - make sure he has good equipment and overall is a decent DJ - and NO KARAOKE !!!! I could see the bride & groom singing a song to each other, since they enjoy doing karaoke, but that's about it. There was a lot of technical issues, long pauses between songs, restarting songs multiple times, couldn't hear anyone who talked on the mic, stopping the Dollar Dance to let a kid (who couldn't read fast enough to follow the lyric screen) sing while the bridal party stood around on the dance floor and talked. We left around 11:30 and she still hadn't done the bouquet toss. At least we did get to do some dancing. I honestly hope Janet & Steve were happy (since they're all that mattered), but I personally would have been pissed.
Anyway... we went back to Laurie's house and finally went to bed around 1:30. We were on air mattresses in the basement, so my Beagle woke me up around 7 am (a slimy wet dog nose sniffing in the ear is NOT a gentle way to wake up and once I giggled, there was no snooze button!!) I took him outside and her horses saw me from the barn and announced loudly that they were ready for breakfast. So I had to take care of them. Then it was pointless to go back to bed after that so I sat out on the deck and enjoyed the still-cool breeze until everyone else got up.
We hung out at Laurie's til mid-afternoon, helping with farm stuff (cleaning stall, hauling hay bales, etc) then went home to shower!
She hasn't asked for help with her air conditioner so she's been sleeping in the basement in this crazy heat we've been having! So I told her I was coming back tonight to help carry it out of storage and install it. At least she didn't argue!
