Weigh in & update 6/24

Happy last Wednesday in June!

Was up a smidge (0.4 lbs) at WI tonight, but (don't read the next paragraph if you're squeamish due to TMI) I started new BCPs this month and I've been spotting & bloated, seriously MOO.  Thank the Lord for elastic waists!!  Hopefully next month I'll start to adjust and things will calm down to normal.  At least (knocking on wood) I haven't been emotional, but then again, I swear by St. John's Wort for the safety of everyone around me.

I broke out the Plan & Track book so I can get back doing that. I'm actually using the calendar schedule page and also the shopping list page.  I've been so lousy getting my fruits & veggies in - I mean WHY???  Look at all the good stuff coming into season!!

I had to double check my logging tonight, since I showed with 3 points left for the day!  I can't remember the last time I had regular points left over!!  But I had my snack at like 2 and didn't want to have anything else until I weighed in at 6.  Then I ran a few errands and came home and dinked around after the meeting, before texting Randy to say I was having a salad, since he wasn't home from work yet (and still isn't at 10pm!) I had some crab meat, shredded cheddar cheese, 2 hard boiled eggs and fat free ranch dressing.  So a total of 14 points, with the glass of milk I had, too.  STUFFED!  Then I took the dog for a 2 mile walk - and we did it in less than 40 minutes!
I'm pretty pleased with the 24 APs this past week.  I'm trying to think of what I did Thursday to have so many, but all it was Miss Angela's dress rehearsal for the recital and we ran some errands before loading up the car with costumes and I sat in the auditorium while she danced her butt off.
Yesterday (Tuesday) was easy - I mowed the lawn and removed an ancient forsythia bush from the yard - sans tools!  This would be more impressive if I'd taken a 'before' shot, but I hadn't planned to remove the entire bush - it just happened!  I went to break off a couple dead branches and even the green ones were just snapping off!  I'll go out this weekend with a shovel and dig out the stump and it'll be just a fond memory (NOT).  I hated that ratty thing.  Now to yank up the other one that the dog keeps getting himself tangled in. And if we cut down the 2 dead trees and 1 almost-dead tree and our yard will be nice-ish!
Anyhoo, that's what I'm concentrating on this week.  Getting in the fruits & veggies and tracking everything in the book (as well as eTools).  I joined a challenge on eTools so that's a little extra motivation / support, too.

This weekend is the ARRL Field Day, which I don't usually participate in, but Randy does.  He operates from the National Weather Service office so we'll probably go out there to share dinner with him and watch the meteorologists launch the nightly weather balloon.  I'll have to watch out for chips & cookies that always seem to be in abundance out there.

Well, it's time to get ready for bed and to clean out my knuckles that got scraped up while removing the ratty bush.  Probably should have done a little more than soap & water in the shower last night, so they're looking sort of angry!  Oops!

Refocus !

I swear Dez, my WW leader, was in my head tonight!  She talked about how after being on plan for a while, one tends to get complacent (nodding head), kind of slacks off on the tracking (nodding head), maybe doesn't weigh or measure foods like they should (nodding head) and even skips meetings (OK, nope - not doing that!)

And she talked about how June & July are a lot like the winter holidays. June brings graduations (yup), proms (yup), bridal showers (yup), weddings (yup), open houses (yup - ours is in August, tho), family reunions (yup) and July brings the 4th and all it's requisite BBQs (yup)  so lots of chances to really screw things up.

So she suggested to Refocus, meaning really thinking about what you're doing and making good choices, etc.  The problem with me is that I totally forget!  I'll go eat something and then I'll be like "WTF - what was I thinking?"  I do that way too much.  I made a list of stuff I ate this past week that wasn't the best of choices (which mostly didn't get tracked) and I'm embarrassed at how long that list was.

I need to sit my butt down and make a total meal plan, including snacks.  I've not been getting all my fruits & veggies in.  Sure haven't been exercising.  I thought for sure once the kid started driving and I had evenings to myself that I'd be out walking, but for some reason I feel like I'm getting off work, going home, dinner and bed. And I swear I'm not going to bed at 8 pm!

So I was up .07 lb. Meh.  Does anyone else try to gauge how they feel before weighing in to guess if the scale is going to be up or down?  Is that just me?  I need to get my butt in gear, I was just looking down at my roll.....ugly.
Activity was pretty average - 20 APs.  You can tell which day I mowed the lawn!

So this is why I won't be missing any meetings this summer!  I want the smiley face charm!  I may be missing one meeting while we're on vacation in July, but that'll be fine.  10 out of 12 meetings.  Mine!
I had to screenshot the notification I got from WW last week - this is funny! I don't know why it still insists my weigh in day is Thursday.  My mobile app is set to Wednesday, as well as eTools.

So tomorrow night is dress rehearsal for Miss Angel's dance recital.  Dinner will either be at 4pm or most likely closer to 10pm.  Yay.  Friday is the recital and we usually hit Wendy's before and in the past we'd go to Red Robin afterward.  Last year, the studio owner got a stack of pizzas and basically had a party at the studio afterward.  If you want to see all her zillions of costumes, I have them posted here on my other blog....  I wish I could say we're done with dance, but we're not.  Summer classes start in a couple weeks, so maybe her ankle will finally heal after she sprained it back in January! She tried out for and made the studio's All Star team and will be competing for them again next year.  Hope she doesn't have culture shock when she starts college classes and actually has HOMEWORK!  Since she sure didn't have much while in high school.

Anyhoo, I still have to go to work tomorrow, so I better get turning in - the next couple days are gonna be long ones!

Weigh in & update 5/27

Whew - this past week was a doooooozy!!  And actually, it really wasn't because of the holiday weekend.  It was the BBQ lunch at work on Thursday (which I did NOT track) and going out to dinner at another BBQ place Friday night (OMG chicken & waffles!!)  I can't remember the last time I used all of my weekly points AND all my APs, too!

But then.....the Plague happened.  Miss Angela had been sick last week and she graciously made it worse, then gave it to me.  I woke up Saturday morning with the tickly throat and it eventually morphed into stuffed sinuses, coughing, sneezing & such.  By Sunday I was losing my sense of taste and still don't have it back!  My chest & ribs hurt from coughing.

On the plus side, it really cut down on my mindless grazing over the weekend.  I was really disappointed, since we had this most beautiful steak Monday that was easily 2 inches thick and I'm sure it was heavenly to eat, but WAHHH!  Couldn't taste it.  But I still did, and tracked it but I was sad the whole time.

It's really weird that I can figure out what the food is supposed to be, but not the food itself.  Like I ate some sour cream & onion chips earlier - I could tell they were salty.  I had Honey Nut Cheerios this morning for breakfast, I could tell they were a little sweet.
So basically that means I didn't get much activity in.  I did get the lawn mowed Saturday and half-heartedly worked in the flower bed off & on between rain sprinkles and motivation.
But I was feeling so lousy that many naps did happen. I managed to make it thru a half day of work Tuesday and didn't even go in today.

The half that's done looks pretty nice. And there's buds on my roses!!! And a whole lot of helicopters off the maple trees.

Did I mention?  I was down 1.4 lbs at weigh in tonight.  I made myself go to the meeting, even tho I look like death warmed over and have a lovely singing voice.  And the sickness beat out Mother Nature with her cramps & bloating!  I was feeling the scale could go either way.  I wonder how much I would have lost if it weren't for the TOM?  Who knows, I'll take this.

In Remembrance....

Yay!

So I finally figured out the damn share buttons at the bottom of my posts.  I had to contact tech support at AddThis several times and they finally figured out something that would work.  And once they found the right code - BAM done.   Only 3 weeks after the A-Z Challenge wrapped up!

I lost my custom signature at the bottom of the posts, but I'm really not sure if I even want that back.

So what do you think of the new look?  I like it.  Pfft, of course I do!  I wouldn't make my blog ugly to my eyes!

Yada, yada, yada, I've been doing pretty lousy with the losing the 12 pounds before Miss Angela's graduation.  That ain't happening.  I can shoot for her party in August, tho.

We don't have any big, exciting plans for Memorial Day.  I'm sure we'll meet the family at the cemetery to visit Dad and probably have some lunch.  I'd like to go visit my sister's house since her fur-family has increased significantly.  Last weekend she adopted a dog from an adoption event at the Detroit Zoo and Wednesday one of her barn cats produced 4 kittens.  The mom cat is pretty shy so seeing the kittens might be out, but I definitely want to meet Barney!

Grilling will happen.  Randy & I stopped at the local grocery store that has a great meat counter and got a beautiful steak, some sirloin burgers and boneless pork ribs.  mmmmm Meat.  Got some squash and corn on the cob to put on the grill, too.  And I want to try grilling peaches - Randy thinks I'm nuts but I've seen lots of recipes for them.

Yard work is a total gimme for this long weekend.  It's gonna happen. The lawn needs to be mowed again and the flower beds need some serious attention.  The lawn is taking over the one on the south side of the house.  On the plus side, I put grass seed down in part of the back yard to fill in some bare spots, and it's just starting to sprout, so I won't be mowing in that area for another couple weeks - yay!  We have a BIG yard and it's an effort to mow it. Like 2 1/2 hours of effort and that's without even using the bag to catch the clippings.

I bought a bunch of bricks around today so I got some lifting in.  Right now we have rotted landscape timbers around the big maples out front, I want to make those nice stone rings around them before said grad party in August.  I have no idea who many we'll need so I started with 20.  I'll get another 20 next week and so on.  I figure that was enough to pile in the back of my car!

Anyhoo, so I'm back!  I've updated my "In Progress" page with my weigh ins and earned APs.  OH!  I went in this week for my yearly physical.  Everything is fine. I still have borderline high cholesterol, which I've had since my Navy days, but the doc didn't seem concerned about it, so I guess I shouldn't worry, either.  Apparently there's a thing now that if you have a clear pap smear, you don't have to have another for 3 years!  So I got to skip that bit o fun.  But I don't get out of a mammogram!  Yay me.

Another thing - I took the dog for a walk today and went to enter my mileage in the website I was using to "walk across the USA" and found out the website has been retired as of May 6!  WTF!  It would have been nice to get an email about that!  I would have been really pissed if I was mostly across the US, but I wasn't even out of Virginia yet, somewhere like 450 miles.  Guess I'll have to find a new site.

It's getting late, so later!
