Angela Bachiller
She is working towards breaking cliches and to involve people with disabilities in political and social responsibilities. She has her work cut out for her, since even though she is allowed to hold office, she is not allowed to vote!

How can someone be allowed to hold office, but not allowed to vote? Good on her for going for it, however.

I thought that was weird, too! But the article says that's something she's working toward changing.
DeleteIt seems appalling, and shamefully disrespectful to treat her differently than the other officials. Thanks for sharing this, an interesting A to Z post.
ReplyDeleteI hope she proves them all wrong and makes lots of progress!
DeleteSo inspirational. Have you heard about the BlogHer campaign Women's Lives? You should do a full feature on her and post on their campaign site: http://www.blogher.com/why-womens-lives-matter-0
ReplyDeleteI agree that is crazy that she is not allowed to vote. I am going to put your blog on the Women's Lives Facebook page. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll have to check that page out!
DeleteI hope she's successful in challenging her ability to vote.

I hope so, too!
DeleteWhat an amazing inspiration for the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteI hope she does a great job, too!
DeleteVery interesting! Hopefully the rules will change and she can vote soon.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find more recent info on her to see how she's doing!
